Since a local woman was recorded as having been cured of Scrofula in 1760 by bathing in and drinking the waters, news of its "miraculous effects" spread. Health seekers flocked to the area and positive results for their ailments were recorded for decades. The village of Ballater grew up to accommodate the huge numbers who visited the Wells.
In the 1790s, local surgeon Jonathan Troup, treated patients at the Wells for various complaints including rheumatism, skin conditions and stomach and bowel complaints. He advertised his services at Pannanich Wells in the Aberdeen Journal of the day. The Wells remained popular into the next century and attracted many famous people including Lord Byron, Sir Walter Scott and Queen Victoria who recorded one visit in her Highland Journals of 1856.
In 1996 Deeside Water was started to make this special water easily available and provide the same benefits the early visitors to Pannanich Wells enjoyed.
The Royal Deeside Valley remains unspoilt today, with miles of rolling hills in all directions ensuring absolute purity and a perfect catchment for this special water.
Deeside Mineral Water has long been recorded as an excellent example of pure, clear, refreshing water and modern analyses confirm the natural qualities, which attracted users over the centuries. We hope you will enjoy it and make Deeside Water part of your healthy lifestyle.
